About Thiago de Paula Souza

My Phd at large is anchored in collaborative methodologies and since September 2021, I have been based at the HDK-Valand, University of Gothenburg, Sweden. Tiled Provisional rehearsals my research is driven by curatorial practice, research, and education which is only possible through close collaborative work with institutional colleagues, producers, and artists alike. I have been working with artists interested in the intersection (problematics) of social violence, ecology, science, digital futures and the contradictions of political subjectivities, be they framed by race or gender. I am equally committed to persistent institutional interrogation.

As researcher and teaching elective courses (Exhibition Studies, Museum Studies) as well as a summer course (Introduction to Contemporary Arts and Politics), with my colleague from the same cohort Nkule Mabaso. This period has also been spent making research on "the curatorial claims of the political" and how environment concerns are addressed in the Nordic region.
