About Vishnu Nair Gopalakrishnan
I am a postdoctoral researcher working on covalent organic frameworks (COF). My research focuses on science of building chemical structures from molecular building blocks held together by strong bonds. My study is primarily concerned with the synthesis, structure and properties of inorganic and organic compounds, and the design and construction of new porous crystalline materials.
I received Master of Science in Chemistry from Centre for Nano and Material Sciences, Jain University, India. The thesis was on the design of fluorescent carbon dots for biosensing applications. Later, I earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from Université Laval, Quebec, Canada. My research was focussed on the design and development of COF hybrids as platforms for photocatalytic carbon dioxide reduction. During doctoral program, I gained knowledge on synthesis, characterization techniques and pre- as well as post-synthetic modification on inorganic and organic hybrids.
I am now working in the group of Prof. Karl Börjesson at the University of Gothenburg. My current research emphasises on rational design of building blocks, underlying structure–function relationships in 3D-COF thin films towards organic electronics.
