Hi, I’m Zhicong Xie, a PhD student in BioEnv. My research focuses on climate change-vegetation interactions, ecosystem modeling, and the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum (SPAC). Currently, I am working on projects that model the impacts of extreme weather on tree growth in both forests and urban areas, spanning scales from local to regional.
Questions driving my PhD study are: What processes (especially physiologically) are critical for trees under extreme conditions, and how can we accurately capture/represent them in our models? The overall aim is to make better projections and increase the understanding of how trees respond to climate change.
