Indian percussionist Giridhar Udupa, from Bangalore, is touring Europe to launch his new album and the concert in Gothenburg will be the only one in the Nordic countries. He plays Ghatam (clay pot) and also performs konokol, the vocal, rhythmic language of South Indian music. Ahmad al Khatib plays the Arabic lute, the oud, and Anders Hagberg is a flautist, soprano saxophonist and professor of musical theatre at the Academy of Music and Drama.
The three musicians are respected international soloists on their respective instruments and perform on stages all over the world. They first collaborated in Bangalore in 2011, when Hagberg and al Khatib made the first of several tours of India.
Hagberg and al Khatib have a long and fruitful collaboration and have made several albums together such as the acclaimed Melodic Melange from 2014 and Ley Lines from 2015, the Connecting Worlds concert series and projects with numerous guest musicians.
