Abstract

In a context of globalization and radical uncertainty, entrepreneurial judgment is challenged by the discovery of new entrepreneurial ecosystems. Navigation is a way of solving problems and of selecting limited sources of knowledge that fit to entrepreneur’s needs. We provide empirical evidence of this process with a case study highlighting the importance of feedback for enabling the entrepreneurial navigation in China. We show that feedback inquiry is an entrepreneurial action enabling reflexivity and suggesting potential paths. We show that the quality of the feedback provides trustworthy interactions enabling entrepreneurial actions about resources, financial constraints and potential partners. We provide empirical evidence about doubts, risks and elements of entrepreneurial judgment. We illustrate how much actors such as incubators may provide robust tools for navigating and docking if feedbacks are relevant, precise and trustworthy. The concrete content and nature of these interactions, at an early stage of the entrepreneurial project fosters entrepreneur’s judgement and for risk assessment.
