Summary
In her dissertation Lova Palmér investigates participation in art education by analysing the stagings in the filmmaking of the students compared to stagings in the classroom.
The stagings observed in the student films indicated a tendency of being more study-oriented compared to the stagings observed in the classroom. The results also indicated that the students’ mobile phone cameras as a tool for film making have the potential to increase student participation in art education.
Observations indicated that placement, popular culture and the students film making are intertwined, where the expanded classroom outside of school and the art classroom provided more potential stagings and positions in the art class.
