Issa Amro will receive the Right Livelihood Award 2024.

Issa Amro is a founder of Youth Against Settlements, an organisation dedicated to peaceful resistance against Israel’s occupation.

Throughout his work, he has been a tireless advocate for human rights, earning numerous accolades for his courage and commitment. In 2010, he was named Human Rights Defender of the Year by the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, and in December 2024, he will receive the Right Livelihood Award in Sweden. The award recognises Amro and Youth Against Settlements for their “steadfast nonviolent resistance to Israel’s illegal occupation, promoting Palestinian civic action through peaceful means.”

This is a rare opportunity to engage with a leading figure in the struggle for human rights and to gain insight into the power of non-violent resistance in one of the most challenging contexts in the world today.
