In this seminar, the research project “The Europeanisation of the Universities: Transforming Knowledge Institutions from within, c. 1985–2010” is presented and discussed. The comparative project analyses how several universities in different parts of Europe underwent processes of Europeanisation from the mid-1980s and how these transformations could be related to a larger history of European integration and the emergence of the so-called knowledge society.
