Stephanie Reimann: Quantum fluctuations in ultra-cold atomic quantum gases

Abstract

The importance of beyond-mean-field effects on self-bound many-fermion states is well-known for nuclei or metallic clusters. More recently, an analogous yet rather different scenario was realized in experiments with dipolar or binary Bose gases: Self-bound quantum droplets may form out of a gaseous Bose-Einstein condensate stabilized by quantum fluctuations. In this talk, I will discuss the possibility to generate vortices and persistent currents in such forms of quantum liquids, and briefly also comment on supersolidity in toroidal dipolar condensates.

The seminar will be held in hybrid form

You can attend either in person or via Zoom.
