What role does the material play? In what ways do material relate to the body and the body to material? How do we understand materiality of materials today?
This year’s seminar To Perform Body explores craft in relation to materiality from political, historical, and contemporary perspectives.
We will discuss these questions with invited speakers, as well as the role of art, craft, and design in relation to materiality, artistry, and body.
The seminar will provide examples of artists’ working processes and discuss the concept of “materiality” from different perspectives, explorations, and praxes
To Perform Body is the seventh seminar in the series by the program Textile – Body – Space at HDK-Valand Campus Steneby.
This year the seminar is a collaboration between Göteborgs universitet HDK-Valand, Konsthantverkscentrum, Mötesplats Steneby and with support from Göteborgs Slöjdförening.
