MRI and diffuse glioma

Adult-type diffuse glioma grades 2 and 3 are an uncurable disease, these malignant brain cancers grow slowly invading surrounding brain areas. This thesis focuses on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and health-related quality of life in patients with diffuse glioma.

MRI is the most widely used imaging modality in routine radiological diagnosis of glioma. Similarly, health-related quality of life is a central functional outcome commonly reported during mid- and long-term patient follow-up. Taken together, our studies assess the usefulness of quantitative MRI in the clinic and raise awareness of important unmet needs in a subset of patients with negative outcomes.

Our findings highlight that integrating research into clinical workflows and collaborative efforts across multiple centers are key to improving diagnostic imaging and functional outcome practices.
