During this workshop, you will gain insight into how Wikipedia works, why it is important to keep information updated, and how you can help improve its content.
How does Wikipedia actually work? Who can edit, and how is the accuracy of information ensured?
Welcome to a lecture with a representative from Wikimedia Sweden, where we will gain a deeper insight into the world’s largest digital encyclopedia.
Over the course of 45 minutes, we will learn about Wikipedia’s history, its significance for free knowledge, and how the platform maintains credibility and neutrality. We will go through how articles are created and updated, the importance of citations, and how we can all contribute to a more reliable and inclusive knowledge base.
After the lecture, there will be an opportunity to try it yourself! Bring your own laptop and experiment with editing, updating, or adding new information under the guidance of the expert from Wikimedia Sweden. It’s a great chance to learn the basics of editing and gain hands-on experience.
