About Gunilla Westman Andersson
Gunilla Westman Andersson is a senior lecturer at the Department of Education and Special Education, University of Gothenburg and programme director for the Special Education programmes. Gunilla is a Special Education Needs Coordinator (SENCO) whose career has spanned various environments including preschool, school and habilitation centres. She been working as a SENCO at the Child Neuropsychiatric Clinic (CNC) in Gothenburg for many years.
Research interests
In 2013 Gunilla defended her thesis entitled "Autism in preschoolers – assessment, diagnostic and gender aspects" at the GNC. She also holds a masters degree in Special Education.
Following her dissertation, she continued conducting research on children and young people with developmental disabilities, in particular support to families and teachers, but also on how different disabilities affect individuals in different contexts. Gunilla is a part of the research environment Platform for Research in Inclusive education and School development (PRIS) at the Department of Education and Special Education and has research collaborations with the GNC.
