One Year MFA in Choral Conducting
The application process for the start of studies in autumn 2024 has closed and the admission process is ongoing. Next time you can apply is Dec 2024 – Jan 2025. Studies start in the autumn of 2025.
The Master’s programme in Choral Conducting includes training in music from different traditions, although the focus is on Western choral music.
With more than half a million people participating in 15,000 choirs, there is a great need for well-trained choir leaders and choral conductors in Sweden. The programme will prepare you to lead choral singing in diverse contexts for both children and young people and for adult singers.
The programme provides the opportunity to develop and deepen your musical expertise and to reflect on your own artistry. You will also have the potential to grow in your role as a leader; working with people and promoting their learning is an important part of the programme. As part of the training, you will also learn how the Swedish choral profession works and become familiar with key organisations.
The programme consists of seminars, lectures and group exercises, but there are also placements and independent projects. You are able to customise your education by choosing subjects, such as piano accompaniment, arrangement and vocal training for choir leaders.
