Actor David Dencik in artist talk on screen acting

As part of his three-year residence at the Academy of Music and Drama, David Dencik will hold joint masterclasses for the performing arts students at the Academy as well as Valand Academy's film students. Dencik will also give an artist talk open to the public on Thursday 31 January.

The internationally renowned actor David Dencik once again visits the Academy of Music and Drama in Gothenburg within the framework of the new Artist in Residence programme, which is supported financially by the Stena Foundation. The programme aims to invite leading artists for recurrent efforts as a guest teacher for a three-year period.

At the end of January, David Dencik will hold workshops and masterclasses for film and performing arts students. The visit coincides with the Gothenburg International Film Festival, and all film educations in the Nordic and Baltic countries have been invited to the open conversation on January 31.

David Dencik is currently involved in the production of a film about Thomas Quick, which was shot in West Sweden last autumn. In the film, which he also produces, he plays the title role.

"As an actor, it is a dream role to portray Tomas Quick / Sture Bergwall who developed multiple personalities at Säter" says David Dencik.

During the conversation, Dencik offers insights into the movie shooting process, but also about what is characteristic of interesting acting in front of the camera. Hanna Sköld from Valand Academy and Peter Melin, from the Academy of Music and Drama hold the conversation, where the audience is also encouraged to participate.
