European chamber music conference in Göteborg

Published

On 22-24 November, the Academy of Music and Drama will host the annual autumn meeting of the European Chamber Music Teachers' Association (ECMTA). The organisation, which promotes the exchange of experience between chamber music teachers from universities across Europe, holds two meetings a year in different locations.

- I am delighted that we have been given the opportunity to hold the autumn meeting here in Gothenburg. It is an excellent opportunity to present our programmes at the Academy of Music and Drama,' says Tobias Granmo, head of chamber music in the classical music programmes.

The theme of the conference, The Reflective Chamber Musician, focuses on reflection and development in chamber music. Speakers include Maria Bania, professor of musical performance, Johan Stern, principal cellist of the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and Joel Eriksson, senior lecturer in music theory. During the conference, participants will be offered workshops, seminars, masterclasses and concerts at the Academy of Music and Drama, Jonsered Manor and the University Auditorium.
