Improving the living conditions of LGBTI people is an important part of the Nordic Council of Ministers' vision to become the most sustainable and integrated region in the world.
Since 2020, the Nordic countries have been working together to ensure that LGBTI people have equal rights and opportunities in the Nordic Region. Part of this cooperation is the Nordic LGBTI Fund, which is administered by NIKK on behalf of the Nordic Council of Ministers. This autumn, the fund will open for applications for the fourth year in a row.
Who can apply for funding?
The fund finances projects in which at least three different organisations, from at least three different Nordic countries, co-operate. The call is open to various activities and organisations, such as NGOs, universities, public authorities and businesses.
Projects that contribute both to Nordic benefit and to efforts to promote equal rights and opportunities for LGBTI people in the Nordic Region can apply for funding from the fund. Approximately DKK 1.2 million will be allocated.
Activities must start no later than in early 2025 and be implemented within two years. The money can be used, for example, to develop common methods, develop new knowledge or organise conferences and networks.
The fund is administered by NIKK, Nordic Information on Gender, a co-operation body under the Nordic Council of Ministers (located at the Secretariat).
*LGBTI is an abbreviation of lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and intersex. The abbreviations may vary in the Nordic countries, but LGBTI is used consistently in official Nordic co-operation, as it is in other international organisations.
