Successful Presentation at 2024 International Science Festival

CERGU organised a well-attended and interesting panel at this year's International Science Festival.

On April 18th, CERGU participated in the International Science Festival in Gothenburg. The theme of this year's festival was Waves and CERGU organised a panel in conjunction with the European Parliament elections, entitled A populist wave? The European Parliament elections 2024.

The panel was held at the Gothenburg City Library and drew an audience from various ages and backgrounds. The CERGU interdisciplinary spirit was alive and well, with a mix of different academic disciplines present. Hjalmar Falk (History of Ideas), Linda Berg (Political Science), Eva Hoxha (Political Science) och Olga Sasunkevich (Gender Studies) participated. The panel was moderated by CERGU Deputy Director Markus Johansson.

The panel discussion touched on topics like populism as a concept, and its role in democracy, populism's spread throughout Europe, predictions prior to the elections regarding populist and Eurosceptic parties, and the consequences that a more populist Europe can have on European cooperation. The presentation concluded with questions from the audience.
