The Centre for Cellular Imaging Swedish partner in two grants from the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative

Published

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI) has recently awarded 14 grants from their program Advancing Imaging Through Collaborative Projects, and the Centre for Cellular Imaging (CCI) is partner in two of the grants. One is received through the Network of European Bioimage Analysts, and the second through Correlated Multimodal Imaging Network.

Julia Fernández-Rodríguez, head of the CCI, will be co-PI for the projects.

“Strong and cutting-edge imaging expertise is crucial for a big part of the medical and biological research conducted today. We are therefore happy for these grants that will help us to continue develop as a top-class imaging facility”, said Julia Fernandez-Rodriguez. “Our goal, together with our colleagues around the world, is to establish strong networks and globally share knowledge about state-of-the-art bioimage analysis and multimodal imaging across scales tools and methods.”

The aims of the projects are to strengthen the profession of Bioimage Analysts, adding more resources and knowledge to local research support. The projects also aim to harness the power of multimodal imaging across scales from basic research to clinical diagnostics, facilitate access and train a new generation of scientists.

About our Network

CCI has been part of the Network of European BioImage Analysts (NEUBIAS) since 2015, and the Correlative Multimodal Imaging for Life Sciences (COMULIS) network since 2018. In these communities the CCI has been involved in different activities such as training schools, releasing of open textbooks, develop new imaging methods and organizing mobility grants in the short-term scientific-mission programs.

About the Grant

The Chan Zuckerberg Initiative invited applications for two-year grants to support collaborative projects aimed at accelerating the dissemination and adoption of imaging technologies, methods, platforms, or training resources. In their program, the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative states that scientific imaging research and technology will play a critical role in enabling a deeper mechanistic understanding of health and disease, driving diagnostics, and informing directed treatments.
