A collaborative study of content and language integrated learning
Short description
This collaborative project aims to investigate opportunities and challenges in education based on content and language integrated learning (CLIL) with English as the target language, i.e. when subject teaching is conducted partly in English, in addition to Swedish. First, the consequences of such teaching for students' language development in Swedish and English are examined, and second, methods for conducting CLIL teaching in grades 6-7 are mapped.
About the project
We will examine how students' linguistic repertoires in Swedish and English develop and seek a greater understanding of how content and language integrated teaching can be conducted among students in primary school. Together with teachers, we aim to identify teaching strategies and methods that enhance students' knowledge development in various school subjects.
About the ULF agreement
Together with some other universities the University of Gothenburg has been commissioned to conduct experimental research on practical research over a five-year period.
