Short description

Access to insulin is complex:
• Global and national issues
• Need to focus on full pathway
• Donation programmes have had a significant impact

Sustainability is important why addressing underlying factors is of great interest.
There is a need to look at issues impacting availability and affordability
Costs beyond insulin (Beran and Yudkin 2010; Atun et al. 2017; Klatman and Ogle 2020; Ogle et al. 2016; Abraimova et al. 2022):
Blood glucose monitoring; consultations; travel; etc.
Heat stability
Cannot underestimate or overestimate impact
Propitious time to address these complex issues

Unbroken ampoules were stored in earthen pots for four months at temperatures exceeding 30 degrees Celsius, without any deterioration in the quality of the insulin.
