Short description

Different initiatives and analysis advocate a shift to less environmentally damaging modes as a tool to achieve the Swedish environmental objectives. The projekt Modal shift for an environmental lift, MOSEL, analyses under which conditions the shift of goods from road to rail and waterborne transport can contribute to the fulfilment of the relevant Swedish environmental objectives 2030. Waterborne transport comprises short sea shipping as well as inland waterway transport, with the latter being only of marginal importance in Sweden. Focus is on freight transport and shifts between road, rail and sea transport, except overseas transport.
