MR in Radiation Therapy
Short description
The goal is to implement MR imaging in modern radiotherapy in order to use the superior soft tissue contrast of MRI to improve the target delineation. We are further investigating the possibility to detect viable tumor with functional MRI method as Intra voxel incoherent motion (IVIM) and MR spectroscopy (MRS) and use this information for dose adaption in the target.
Work is also done to minimize the risks that might be introduced with the use of MR Imaging in dose planning, e.g., geometric distortions and less correct attenuation correction. We are a part of the Swedish national VINNOVA-project ”Gentle Radiotherapy – individualized radiotherapy without debilitating side effects”.
