Short description

Convenience is increasingly becoming a key offering in the contemporary economy. This development also impacts (online) retailing and has led to the emergence of quick commerce. This new generation of commerce promises consumers immediacy and instant gratification by providing fast (less than one hour) deliveries of convenience goods. Such a service is usually enabled through the close location of the distribution centres, so-called dark stores, to the end-customers. As quick commerce is still a new phenomenon in the Nordic countries and so far unexplored by research, the project aims to understand the role and potential future impact of quick commerce and especially dark stores on retail transformations and last-mile deliveries. As a result, by studying quick commerce, how convenience as a mega trend shapes retailers, workers and consumers should be further explored.
