The Disruptive Semiotic: A Kristevan Reading of Thomas Hardy's Fiction
Research project
Inactive research
Short description
Doctoral project, Catharina Hellberg, English literature:
The aim of this project is to demonstrate how the ambiguous fascination Thomas Hardy's fiction still holds for readers can be explicated with Kristeva's psychoanalytic theory of the disruptive semiotic. Kristeva's dynamic view of the process of intertextuality is highlighted to analyse an observed analogy between the basics of Julia Kristeva's theory and the theoretical platform exhibited in Thomas Hardy's fiction to defend the view of a timeless quality of his writing.
