Short description

The research group Women's health in motion through the life span focuses on increasing knowledge about disorders in puberty, pregnancy and menopause. We examine physical ability, physical activity and exercise, as well as muscle activation.

Ongoing research is on preventive and therapeutic interventions for pelvic girdle pain and pelvic floor disorders during pregnancy, at clinic and by digital media.

Treatment strategies for pelvic girdle pain are evaluated during pregnancy but also for long-term pain disorders. Expectations of physiotherapy are explored as well as experience of pain treatment with transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS). Experiences of pelvic floor injuries and its interventions are studied. There is an ongoing international collaboration to develop a 'core set' for pelvic girdle pain.
