Welcome with your application to the Master in Communication programme. Please read the instructions carefully before you start your application.

Selection

All students who apply for the programme, and meet the entry requirements, compete with one another for the places that are available. The selection of eligible applicants is based upon a Letter of motivation that all applicants must submit according to the instructions below.

Letter of motivation

The Letter of motivation should be uploaded at universityadmission.se. The Letter of motivation should display your motivation and objectives for studying the programme Master in Communication at the Department of Applied IT.

In the right column you can see an example of how the letter should look. Please follow the template when writing your own Letter of motivation.

Emphasis should be placed on the following questions:

  • Why have you chosen to apply to the programme Master in Communication?

  • How is your previous academic and professional background relevant to the Master in Communication programme?

  • How would studying the programme Master in Communication further develop your academic and professional profile as well as support your future career?

  • How would you as a student contribute to the programme Master in Communication?

In addition, please note the following:

  • Your document should have the headline "Letter of motivation. Master in Communication".

  • Include your name and e-mail address.

  • Your Letter of motivation has to be submitted in English.

  • The text must not exceed 4000 characters (including spaces, but excluding headline, name and e-mail address). Documents exceeding 4000 characters will not be considered. Please indicate the number of characters in your letter.

What Happens Next?

Your Letter of motivation will be assessed by a jury consisting of teachers connected with the programme. The selection of applicants will be guided by the following evaluation criteria:

  • ability of the applicant to demonstrate an understanding of the field of communication in general as well as the programme Master in Communication specifically,

  • ability to relate objectives and foci of the programme Master in Communication to the applicant’s academic and professional profile as well as career aspirations,
