Apply for MFA Organ and Related Keyboard Instruments
This information applies to applications for the Master's Programme in Organ and Related Keyboard Instruments. Next time you can apply is 17 March – 15 April 2025. Studies start in the autumn of 2025.
Your application process
The following applies to applicants that start their studies in autumn 2025.
- Apply for the programme through universityadmissions.se
Application period: 17 March – 15 April 2025. - Pay your application fee by 25 April 2025. If you are a citizen of the EU, an EEA country or Switzerland, you do not have to pay any enrolment or tuition fees. If you are exempt from paying the application fee, you must prove your exemption status by the same date. More information about fees on universityadmissions.se.
- Choose between admission tests on campus and digital tests: 28 April 2025, we will send an e-mail asking you whether you want to do your admission test on site or online. If you wish to do your admission tests on site you will have to choose the organ you want to play on.
- Admission tests on site and interview will take place on 22 May 2025.
- Digital admission tests: Submit your work test via SlideRoom from 29 April to 22 May 2025. On 15 May, you will receive an invitation for an interview which will take place via video call on 22 May 2025.
- Complete your eligibility no later than 19 June 2025. More information on universityadmissions.se.
- Admission results published: 10 July 2025 through My pages on universityadmissions.se.
- Last day to reply to your offer: 18 July 2025
- Second admission results: 24 July 2025
Admission tests
The following applies to applicants that start their studies in autumn 2025.
Compulsory test parts
- Organ audition with 20 minutes of music chosen by you. You can show skills in interpretation or improvisation or both.
- Johann Sebastian Bach: Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (BWV 659). You are expected to obtain sheet music yourself.
Voluntary test part
During the tests, you also have the opportunity to show your skills on keyboard instruments other than the organ. Choices are harpsichord, fortepiano, harmonium, clavichord and modern piano. For this part you have 10 minutes at your disposal.
Choose between admission tests on campus and digital tests
After the last application day, you can choose whether you want to do the admission tests on site or if you want to send in video recordings.
Test on campus
Before the admission tests, you must choose which organ you want to play on. You will receive information from us, regarding preparation times on your chosen instrument for the audition, as well as for the test.
In connection with the audition, you will be interviewed about what you plan to focus on in your independent work.
Digital admission tests
You make video recordings for the various test parts as follows:
- Video 1: Organ audition with 20 minutes of freely chosen music.
- Video 2: Johann Sebastian Bach: Nun komm, der Heiden Heiland (BWV 659).
- Video 3: Voluntary audition on a keyboard instrument other than the organ. You have 10 minutes at your disposal.
The finished video recordings are uploaded via SlideRoom. You create a new account in SlideRoom with your e-mail address and password of your choice.
A short interview is conducted via video call. More information will be sent to you via e-mail.
Requirements for the video recordings
- The recordings sound must be of high quality.
- The applicant must be in close-up. Face, arms and instruments should be clearly visible.
- You must upload separate video files for organ (required) and related piano instruments (optional).
- The video files can be a maximum of 500 MB each and must be in one of the following formats: .m4v, .mov, .mp4, .wmv, .flv, .asf, .mpeg, .mpg, .mkv
Eligibility and selection
Entry requirements
Bachelor degree of arts in music or equivalent, and musical knowledge and skills that are assessed at the admission test and are the basis for selection.
Selection
Selection of eligible applicants is based upon entrance tests.
