Bachelor's programme in Film Composition
The bachelor’s programme in Film Composition is designed to develop your skills in filmmaking methods and thinking with a focus on investigatory processes. As a student, you’ll develop your knowledge of the entire filmmaking process – from technical skill to artistic ability and theoretical expertise.
In the first year, you’ll study and analyse – both practically and theoretically – your own understanding of the concept of images. In a series of brief exercises, you’ll explore the contributions images and sounds make to your own creative work, and you’ll develop the skills to use the technical tools you’ll need. You’ll also develop the tools to be able to use the camera as a teaching tool in educational settings. Based on the concept of acting, you’ll develop the skills to portray and stage a narrative and your ability to evaluate and make selections.
In the programme’s second year, you’ll examine your own approach to rooms and space through practical work. You’ll develop the skills to find and configure both interior and exterior spaces for work using visualization and staging.
Based on the concept of planning, you’ll work with all of the operations that precede and follow the production of a film project. In addition to developing your ideas, you’ll train the ability to establish and evaluate project plans in terms of resources and time.
In the third year, you’ll complete a production of your own from idea to finished master copy. In conjunction with the Göteborg Film Festival, you’ll get to present your film work for an audience, and then explore the possibilities of showing and distributing your work. You’ll also write a thoughtful essay on your own artistic work – a chance to reflect on what you’ve learned.
