
Digital Methods and Cultural Heritage
About
The aim of the course is to provide an introduction to how materials related to different forms of cultural heritage can be investigated using digital methods. This includes digital tools and different methods for analyzing cultural heritage and archival materials. The course content covers at a basic level how physical objects, manuscripts and environments can be preserved, made accessible and analyzed using different digital tools and methods. In addition, the course addresses ethical approaches and guidelines as well as copyright issues when collecting and analyzing different types of source materials.
The course includes some compulsory practical workshops, which form part of the examination together with a written assignment.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
Completion of basic and advanced courses totaling 60 credits in any humanities or social science discipline, and English 6 or equivalent.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
