Elisabet develops a new programming language that can help preserve privacy
Elisabet Lobo-Vesga is a PhD student who focuses on information security. She is doing her research education at the Department of Computer Science and Engineering – a joint department between University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology.
Why did you choose to specialise in security?
"My background is in applied mathematics. When I was selecting the topic for my PhD, my main goal was to work on a project to use the problem-solving techniques I have learned on impactful and relevant real-world problems. In an era when we rely more and more on computers for our daily tasks, what could be more fitting than exploring how to provide secure and private services to the users and consumers?"
She continues:
"I would recommend working on security and privacy if you are interested in tackling, arguably, one of the most contemporary problems humankind has to deal with. The beauty of these topics is that your research can be as theoretical or applied as you aspire; the whole spectrum is at hand."
What are you currently working on?
"Currently I work on creating a programming language to consult data bases while protecting the individual’s privacy on the data base."
