Emotions in organizations

What does feeling have to do with it? This course offers an introduction to the social scientific inquiry into the role of emotions in organizations and workplaces. Emotion is more important for rational action than conventionally thought. Contemporary management literature has begun to target emotions of the employees in instrumental ways. In this course we dig deeper, and critically assess the role of emotions in both everyday and work life.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
To be eligible to follow the course 15 credits in Sociology at the advanced level is required or equivalent. Applicants must prove their knowledge of English: English 6/English B from Swedish Upper Secondary School or the equivalent level of an internationally recognized test, for example TOEFL, IELTS.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.
Facilities
Teaching takes place in the premises of the Faculty of Social Sciences in the Haga district in central Gothenburg. Lectures and seminars within "Campus Haga" are held in the buildings Dragonen and Sappören (Sprängkullsgatan) as well as Husaren (Husargatan).
