German, Theme Course on a German-Language Writer
Summary
You study a German-language author’s work in relation to literary-historical and cultural contexts, with a focus on the role of storytelling in shaping history and identity.
About
This course provides you with an insight into modern German literature, focusing on a specific authorship. We address the central issues of the authorship and examines these from a narrative theoretical and literary historical perspective. Special emphasis is placed on the significance of storytelling for the creation of history and identity.
Teaching is conducted in seminar format in German and is based on active dialogue, close reading, and reflection.
NB: The course has scheduled online teaching when offered as a distance course.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
The requirement for admission to the course is a Bachelor's degree (alternatively 180 credits including an individual thesis of 15 credits at advanced level), of which 60 credits in German with at least 30 credits from TY1210, or the equivalent courses in Swedish or foreign higher education.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 285 credits
