Jacqueline’s interest for urban logistics lead her to MSc Logistics and Transport Management
Jacqueline is a dedicated logistics enthusiast with a particular focus on city logistics. Originally hailing from New York, she relocated to Gothenburg and currently resides in Stockholm. In 2020, she embarked on a Master’s programme in Logistics and Transport Management, which provided her with a comprehensive foundation in supply chain strategies, project management, and sustainability. Presently, Jacqueline serves as a business analyst at Ericsson, specializing in transformation projects and CRM systems, where she strives to enhance operational efficiency through strategic improvements.
Choosing the Logistics and Transport Management Programme
Jacqueline's decision to pursue a master’s programme was driven by her desire to build on her bachelor’s degree in finance. "When deciding which master’s programme to pursue, I sought a programme that would complement my bachelor’s degree in finance from New York," Jacqueline explains. The logistics programme at Handelshögskolan stood out to her due to its practical and relevant courses. "Two programmes at Handelshögskolan captured my interest, but I ultimately selected the logistics programme due to its relevant courses and the critical skills it offered in a vital area of our society."
Reflecting on her time at the School, Jacqueline highlights the diverse and enriching coursework. "There were numerous outstanding classes during my time in the programme," she recalls. Among these, city logistics and shipping were particularly impactful. "My favorite courses were city logistics and shipping, thanks to the excellent mix of guest lecturers, the relevance of the assignments, and the overall content. My thesis partner and I chose to focus our research on city logistics in collaboration with Svenska Mässan in Gothenburg."
Jacqueline also fondly remembers the engaging teaching style of Michael Browne, a lecturer who left a lasting impression. "I particularly enjoyed the city/urban logistics course, largely due to the engaging teaching style of Michael Browne," she shares. His ability to integrate current events into his lectures and invite guest speakers from both academia and the corporate world made the learning experience dynamic and relevant. "As a thesis supervisor, Michael was not only knowledgeable but also incredibly supportive, making the learning experience both enriching and memorable."
Programme highlights and future aspirations
The Logistics and Transport Management programme offered Jacqueline a well-rounded education, blending theoretical knowledge with practical application. "The programme offered a balanced mix of theory and practice through the assignments we worked on," she notes. This balance was further enhanced by the programme's flexibility, allowing her to study abroad. "Additionally, the flexibility of the Logistics programme allowed me to spend a semester abroad at Vrije University in The Netherlands. There, I took courses in change management and business model transformation, which provided additional perspectives for our thesis research." Additionally, research conducted during the masters program was recently published.
Looking ahead, Jacqueline is focused on leveraging her education to drive meaningful change in her field. "My future goals include becoming a leader in process improvement, utilizing Lean Six Sigma principles to drive significant advancements in operational efficiency and sustainability," she shares. To this end, she is currently working towards her LSS Green Belt, a certification that will further enhance her expertise.
