Kevin von Zweigbergk's intuition led him to study logistics
Kevin von Zweigbergk graduated from the School of Business, Economics and Law with a Bachelor's degree in Logistics and a Master's degree in Logistics and Transport Management. Today, Kevin works as a National Key Account Manager for Kuehne Nagel, the world's largest sea and air freight forwarder.

Trusting his intuition
Kevin chose to study at the Business School because of his interest in business and logistics: 'There was a natural curiosity about the subject, so it had to be. My gut feeling was that it was the right thing to do,' says Kevin. When it came to choosing a Master's degree, he was torn between specialising in logistics or broadening his knowledge. But in the end, there was really no other programme that appealed more than Logistics and Transport Management,' he explains. Management," he explains.
Courses related to the business world
During the Master's programme, the Operations Management course was a favourite. "Everything I learnt seemed obvious as soon as I read it. It's hard to put my finger on it, but it was a great course with great teachers" recalls Kevin. Of the Masters courses, the Retail Logistics course was particularly interesting, even though it is not directly related to his current job. “It wasn't just the inbound and outbound flows around the stores, but also the psychology of setting up a supermarket, for example” he says. The Strategic Management course during the Master’s was also a highlight. “The whole course was characterised by highly competent lecturers. Both the content of the lectures and the links to the business world were A+” he says.
Developing analytical skills
Kevin values the ability to absorb information, analyse and discuss different topics as the most important skill he gained from the School. “When we bring new graduates from the School into our company, I think that's what stands out the most. They are always quick to understand the context, find their place in it and come up with suggestions and ideas on how we can develop our work. Even at an early stage, from the moment they arrive at our workplace. I think this is what most distinguishes alumni from the School and other universities. That, and that they usually really understand the 'business' and not just what we do" he says. Kevin describes his years at the School as very positive. “In addition to the School being a great school academically, you also get a great network in the job market” he says. The guest lectures have been a particular highlight of Kevin's studies. Listening to engaging speakers talk about how they work and what their business is, he recalls.
Sustainability perspective in business
Kevin believes that his education at the School of Business, Economics and Law prepared him well for working with sustainability issues. "It's no secret that the business world finds sustainability issues, both environmental and social, challenging," he says. Kevin points out that although many companies today are working hard on sustainability, this doesn't mean that it permeates the whole organisation or that everyone in the organisation understands the sustainability efforts that their company is focusing on. "The sustainability issues introduced at the School of Business, Economics and Law have helped me a lot in accessing information in the professional world. I'm still far from being an expert in this field, but in general the basic level provided by the School of Business, Economics and Law is much higher than the average level," he explains.
Future plans and advice for prospective students
Kevin is unsure of his exact future plans, but dreams of working abroad. "I have found an industry I really enjoy and a company that treats me very well," he says. He urges prospective students to apply to the school and not to underestimate the benefits of an active student life. "It's fun, it's educational and you get to meet so many other driven people," he says.
Kevin recommends the School's BSc programme in logistics to those who want to study business with a focus on logistics and who enjoy logic and problem solving. The MSc Logistics and Transport Management is recommended for those who are sure they like logistics and want to specialise in the field.
