Marine Micropaleontology and Paleooceanography
About
You learn parts of the marine microfossil fauna and flora development as well as major stratigraphic distribution of the important mollusks. Important are demersal and planctonical foraminiferer's significance for the interpretation of the contemporary as well as ancient marine environments. Applications of petrogeology is highlighted. The course covers paleooceanography with a focus on the temporal analysis of the evolutions of the ocean and its links to the climatic, oceanographic, eustathian and geographical changes.
Prerequisites and selection
Entry requirements
150 hec in the field of Earth Sciences and/or Marine Sciences is required. Basic knowledge in marine micropaleontology is recommended, as course MG0230.
Selection
Selection is based upon the number of credits from previous university studies, maximum 165 credits.

The Gothenburg region offers proximity to a wide range of marine environments and our facilities include research stations and vessels.
