Meet former students from the Sea and Society Master's Programme
Sea and Society is an interdisciplinary master's programme that will prepare you for a broad career in the marine and maritime field. Meet some of our former students in the stories featured below.
Some of the places where previous students work today include:
Authorities, such as: The Swedish Agency for Marine and Water Management (SwAM), the International Council for the Exploration of the Sea (ICES), BalticWaters 2030, the Swedish Institute for the Marine Environment, and coastal municipalities.
Industries, such as: Environmental consultancy companies, private companies providing ocean solutions, start-ups, and seafood companies.
Amanda Dahl works as a county fishing consultant
Through her internship, she was introduced to the efforts to make a common strategy for fishing. When a job as a county fishing consultant appeared she applied, and she thinks she got the position thanks to her degree project.
Right now, she’s very focused on aquaculture – an exciting area that’s continuously developing.
Sebastian Packalén is a product specialist
Sebastian Packalén works as a product specialist at Alfa Laval with a ballast water treatment system that prevents the spread of invasive species from vessels – a job where he can combine his interests in technology and the marine environment.
Most fun is training customers in the system. Both the technical parts, but also why the system is important for the environment.
Alexandra Falk works with environmental monitoring
Alexandra Falk has always known that she wanted to work with the environment in some way. Now, she works as an environmental analyst to assess the ecosystems on the Swedish West Coast.
The work has intensive field periods in the spring and autumn, when she works with assessments to get an appreciation of fish stock.
