Study philosophy, theoretical and practical
Courses in theoretical and practical philosophy are taught separately and are given separate degrees.
Practical philosophy includes all philosophical issues related to human agency, institutions, practices and values – morality and politics are often in focus of practical philosophical inquiry.
Theoretical philosophy is usually defined in terms of the topics it covers. The topics normally included under this heading are metaphysics/ontology, philosophy of language, epistemology, philosophy of mind, and logic. In Gothenburg, logic is however a separate research subject.
On the introductory level (first cycle), we offer courses leading to a bachelor’s degree. On the advanced level (second cycle),
We offer courses leading to a master’s degree in both practical and theoretical philosophy, as well as courses for beginners carried out at a distance.
These listed courses are given in English.
