U-GOT KIES Research workshop spring 2022
Gothenburg Centre on Knowledge-Intensive Innovation Ecosystems organised a research workshop at Jonsered Manor on 26 April.
As an early career scholar, I appreciate these opportunities to talk to colleagues about potential future trajectories and listen to what other people in my field are working on. This event had a good balance between informal talks and discussions about on-going research
– Madeleine Englund, PhD Student at the Unit for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, University of Gothenburg
Discussions on research and career trajectories
The day began with discussions on research and career trajectories for early scholars. Early career scholars and established scholars discussed various issues in small groups, facilitating open discussions relating to early career scholars’ various thoughts and plans for their future.
This was followed by interesting presentations on on-going work by Elena Mas Tur, Ethan Gifford, and Mark Bagley sparking interesting discussions on patent data, case studies, and simulations.
U-GOT KIES brings together research
After lunch and the opportunity to take a short walk around the Jonsered Manor perimeters, the day continued with information from Maureen McKelvey, Director of U-GOT KIES. She pointed out various ways the U-GOT KIES research centre brings together research on the intertwining dynamics of public policy – innovation and entrepreneurship – science and technology within knowledge-intensive ecosystems.
Seminar on the impact of science
This was followed by a seminar on the impact of science by Magnus Gulbrandsen, Professor & Director of the OSIRIS Centre. OSIRIS’ fundamental perspective is to look at the process of research impact primarily from the user side.
