Linear and Integer Optimization with Applications
About
In this basic course in optimization you will use case studies, presented by researchers in different areas at Chalmers and the University of Gothenburg, to learn tools for practical modeling and solving optimization problems. You will learn the principles of mathematical modeling and how the properties of optimization models can be used in practical problem solving. You will model concrete optimization problems by yourself and analyze your model, choose an algorithm, implement it in software, and analyze your solutions.
This course is open to
Exchange students at the Faculty of Science and exchange students on a university-wide agreement. Please contact your international coordinator at the University of Gothenburg if you need to know more.
Entry requirements
Knowledge equivalent to the courses MMG200 Mathematics 1 and MMG300 Multivariable Analysis. We also recommend knowledge equivalent to MVG300 Programming with Matlab.
English proficiency
Incoming students should have an English level equivalent of B2 or higher as courses and materials, including presentations and exams, will be in English.
To assess your English level, you can use the self-assessment grid for reference: https://europa.eu/europass/en/common-european-framework-reference
