Our research
Language science is a broad-ranging field of research, and the department’s research covers a large extent of this area – often, although not always, with Swedish as a starting point.
At the moment, there are five areas that are particularly prominent: grammar; language technology; lexicology, lexicography and phraseology; multilingualism and Swedish as a second language; and text and context. These areas overlap somewhat, and certain projects will involve several of these categories. We also work together with other institutions and universities, as well as with the business sector and public authorities. As far as is possible, we strive to integrate this research into our educational programmes in the Nordic languages, natural language processing, Swedish as a second language, and the Swedish language.
