National Aquaculture Conferences
Sweden's seas and lakes have enormous commercial potential for the cultivation of fish, shellfish and other aquatic organisms. The technical and biological knowledge is available - but for a sustainable future aquaculture the following are required: a financial effort, simplified legislation and integrated social planning.
Therefore, the University of Gothenburg and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences invited the country's entrepreneurs, researchers and government officials to the first national conference on aquaculture on the 8-9 October, 2009. The conference laid the foundations for a broad national unity and was aimed at leading towards new initiatives, development of contact networks and closer collaboration between companies and researchers.
The long-term goal for the National Aquaculture Conference is to be an annual recurring meeting place and forum for companies, researchers and other actors and stakeholders active in the aquaculture area and its surrounding industries.
