Background
Jon Sunnerfjell holds a Ph.D. in sociology. His dissertation, Un-learning to labour? Activating the unemployed in a former industrial community (Arkiv förlag 2023), explored ethnographically how a former industrial community sought to adapt unemployed individuals to the normative ideals encompassed by concepts such as employability and entrepreneurship. In addition to his dissertation, Jon has published social science research examining coaching programs for the unemployed and disability coding at the Swedish Public Employment Service.

Teaching
Jon teaches theoretical as well as methodological courses in sociology and within the Human Resources programme, as well as in the teacher education programmes. He supervises bachelor and master theses in sociology, work science and in the Human Resources programme.
