Present employment

Since 2001 parttime employed as speech-language pathologist at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. Graduated as a speech-language pathologist in 1998. In 2011, I presented my thesis "The challenge of communication during home mechanical ventilation". Currently working as a researcher at the Institute of Neuroscience and Physiology, Department of Clinical Neuroscience and Rehabilitation, Division of Speech and Language Pathology at Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg.

Teaching interests

Lectures on speech pathology for ventilator-dependent adults. Supervises master’s theses.

Research interests

Research is being focused on the long-term project ITA – Measures of speech Intelligibility, Timing and Articulation in individuals with speech disorders.

Other research interests include:

  • Subtle language disorder, including the development of a testbattery for subtle language disordes (Laakso 2000) which has been used in fMRI studies (van Ettinger-Veenstra et al, Right-hemispheric brain activation correlates to language performance, Neuroimage, 49(4): 3481-3488).
  • Communication during mechanical ventilation, thesis
  • Pedagogical issues. Collaboration with Ingrid Behrns, Åsa Abelin (Department of Philosophy, Linguistics and Theory of Science) och Mattias von Feilitzen (Department of Applied Information Technology) with a project entitled "Guidelines for integrity and ethics in the use of patient recordings for interactive learning".
