About Mathilda Forsby
I am a registered dietitian with a magister’s degree in clinical nutrition from the University of Gothenburg. Currently, I am employed as doctoral student at the department of Internal Medicine and Clinical Nutrition in Hanna Augustin’s group. Prior to my admission as a doctoral student, I worked as a clinical dietitan, maily focusing on paediatric nutrition and diabetes at Södra Älvsborg Hospital.
Research
The focus of my PhD project is to study nutritional intake from food, fortified foods, and supplements during pregnancy. The project includes data from the Swedish population-based pregnancy cohort GraviD and the PREDIN (Pregnancy and Vitamin D intervention) study. PREDIN is an ongoing randomized controlled trial within the antenatal care in Gothenburg. Pregnant individuals are screened for the risk of vitamin D deficiency using a screening tool that contains five short questions. Those who are at high risk of vitamin D deficiency are randomized to receive either 20 or 40 µg/day of vitamin D supplements, or usual care.
Ongoing project
In addition to research on nutrition during pregnancy, I am involved in the iNDIGO (new Nordic Diet in women with GestatiOnal diabetes mellitus) study led by Anna Winkvist. iNDIGO is a randomized controlled trial that evaluates the effect of the New Nordic Diet, compared to usual care, on glucose control among individuals developing gestational diabetes mellitus during pregnancy.
Teaching
I teach at the Dietetic Programme, primarily in the course DIP210, Nutrition 2.
