About Mette Sandoff

Mette Sandoff is a Professor in Public Administration at the University of Gothenburg. Sandoff has extensive managerial experience, from a variety of organizational levels, and among those, the last twelve years at the university management team-level at the University of Gothenburg. Since July 2023 Sandoff has the position as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, strategically responsible för campus development and internationalization. 2021-2023 Sandoff was the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, responsible for work related issues (staff and students) and sustainable development as well as the Head of the University’s Disciplinary Board. Right before, 2012-2021, she had the position as the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, strategically responsible for education (all cycles) and Head of the University's Board of Education. Since 2022 she is appointed by the Swedish Government as Deputy board member of Stockholm School of Economics and since 2024 she is a board member of Book Publisher Studentlitteratur AB. Besides, she is appointed as board member in a dozen foundations. Former managerial positions are among others Vice-Dean at the School of Business, Economics and Law, Head of the Department of Business Administration and Board member of GU Executive Education AB as well as Universeum Science Park.

During 2024-25 she is, on behalf of The Danish Accreditation Institution, the Head of the Quality Assurance Committee evaluating the quality system at Copenhagen University. 2023-24 she had the same position evaluating Aalborg University and during 2021-22 evaluating VIA University respectively. During 2018-19 Sandoff was, on behalf of The Swedish Higher Education Authority, the Head of the Quality Assurance Committee evaluating Malmö University’s quality system and was re-assigned to conduct the follow-up 2021. During 2019-22 she was assigned by The Association of Swedish Higher Education Institutions as a Committee Member for Pedagogical Development in Higher Education. The spring 2017 she attended an Administrative Fellowship at Kutztown University of Pennsylvania; shadowing the President’s and the Provost’s managerial work and shared experiences.

Sandoff has extensive and varied teaching and research experience within the fields of leadership, organizational theory and human resource management, especially in the service and public sectors. She is now conducting research on leadership for pedagogical development and learning among higher education teaching staff.
