About Samantha Hookway
Samantha Hookway's design and artistic practice is often collaborative and done by working in many interdisciplinary teams. Her interests lie in working with the practice of being creative in an atmosphere that has forgotten how creativity is essential. And, she is especially driven by the power of the in-between, a window that is pregnant with design possibilities – whether this window is acting as a transition in our experiences or is a literal piece of glass that sits between two worlds.
Currently, Samantha collaborates inside Studio Alight, a creative studio that works within the crossroads of art, design, law, and technology. Using artistic methods, Studio Alight seeks to reframe, conceptualize, and contextualize the seemingly unexplained, unvisited, and most importantly the unexperienced. Studio Alight’s work has manifested in a few ways including client work, workshops, commissions, and exhibition pieces. On the research track, Samantha has also participated as a researcher and service designer in AGECAP, the Erasmus+ project - Teaching to Transgress Toolbox, and the Horizon Europe project - HEPHAESTUS. Samantha works with collaborators on creating educational experiences and research in the realm of Healthcare.
Samantha holds an MSc in Business & Design program and an MFA in Glass from The Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. She also studied sculpture at Kungliga Konsthögskolan from 2006-08 in Stockholm, Sweden.
