Postdoctoral scholarship in Synthetic Analytical Chemistry
The Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Gothenburg is offering a postdoctoral scholarship aimed at the development of chemical labelling probes for multimodal imaging with SIMS, fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy. The project will include synthesis of the labelling probes, structural characterization, application for cellular imaging with SIMS, fluorescence imaging and electron microscopy. Application deadline: 2024-11-20.
Project
Our project focuses on developing labelling probes for specific proteins, and imaging with SIMS, fluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy. Knowledge and experience in biochemical or organic synthesis, nanobodies, and small probes is of high merit.
The postdoc will learn and perform the synthesis of labelling probes within the Philipp Klahn group, Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg. The postdac will also obtain extensive knowledge in analytical and imaging techniques, particularly STED microscopy, NanoSIMS, and ToF-SIMS within the Nhu Phan group, Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology, University of Gothenburg. He/she will gain experience with different cell cultures, immunostaining, sample preparation for imaging with SIMS and fluorescence microscopy. In addition, the postdoc will be supported with personal skill development, such as scientific communication and presentation.
Required education, knowledge and experience, personal qualities:
- The postdoc must have a completed PhD degree before the start of the scholarship period within the area of organic synthesis, chemical biology or the design of imaging probes.
- The postdoc should have excellent experience in synthetic organic chemistry and compound characterization, especially experience in synthesis of labelling probes will be appreciated.
- The postdoc should speak and write well in English.
- The postdoc should have excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment.
Merit education, knowledge and experience, personal qualities:
- Experience in cell culture.
- Knowledge and experience with cellular biology methods, such as Western Blot, PCR, etc.
- Excellence, creativity, collaborative, and a personality that is easy to work with.
