Postdoctoral scholarship in Synthetic Analytical Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Gothenburg is offering a postdoctoral scholarship aimed at the development of chemical labelling probes for multimodal imaging with SIMS, fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy. The project will include synthesis of the labelling probes, structural characterization, application for cellular imaging with SIMS, fluorescence imaging and electron microscopy. Application deadline: 2024-11-01.

Project

Our project focuses on developing labelling probes for specific proteins, and imaging with SIMS, fluorescence microscopy, and electron microscopy. Knowledge and experience in biochemical or organic synthesis, nanobodies, and small probes is of high merit.

The postdoc will obtain extensive knowledge in analytical and imaging techniques, particularly STED microscopy, NanoSIMS, and ToF-SIMS. He/she will gain experience with different cell cultures, immunostaining, sample preparation for imaging with SIMS and fluorescence microscopy. In addition, the postdoc will be supported with personal skill development, such as scientific communication and presentation.

Required education, knowledge and experience, personal qualities:

The postdoc to be engaged

  • must have a completed PhD degree before the start of the scholarship period.
  • should have good experience in synthetic chemistry, especially experience in synthesis of labelling compounds will be appreciated.
  • should speak and write well in English.
  • should have good communication skills and be good at taking instructions.

Merit education, knowledge and experience, personal qualities:

  • Experience in cell culture.
  • Knowledge and experience with cellular biology methods, such as Western Blot, PCR, etc.
  • Excellence, creativity, collaborative, and a personality that is easy to work with.
