Our research
The Department of Conservation’s areas of research span a broad field of knowledge and issues relating to the planning and operation of practices in order to preserve, conserve, restore and develop objects, buildings, parks, landscapes – i.e. the built environment in large.
Our task is to understand, explain, evaluate, and reflect, but also to create better professional and societal practice. Our research spans perspectives from the humanities to the social sciences and natural sciences, including the practical skills of conservators and craftspersons.
