Integrated Interdisciplinary Digital Project Design
Designing data-intensive research and cultural heritage projects at the intersection of humanities and technical expertise.
GRIDH possesses distinct expertise in what we term as the design of integrative interdisciplinary digital projects in research and cultural heritage. To bridge gaps and create syntheses between 'analog' and 'digital' methods, GRIDH has developed interdisciplinary competence in establishing integrated collaborations between researchers in the humanities and technical expertise within the framework of both research projects and the development of digital resources. Specifically, this involves designing forms of collaboration, workflows, and mutual dialogue based on shared research materials and research questions.
At GRIDH, a range of interdisciplinary research projects is conducted that consistently brings together researchers from different disciplines and faculties, as well as external stakeholders. Clear examples include two major projects within the national research program DIGARV. In 'Terrorism in Swedish Politics' (SweTerror), researchers from intellectual history, linguistics, and digital humanities (Faculty of Humanities, University of Gothenburg), political science (SOM Institute), and language and speech technology (Språkbanken Text, University of Gothenburg, and Royal Institute of Technology, KTH) study digitized materials from the Swedish parliament. 'Who Carved on the Granite Slabs in Bohuslän' encompasses archaeology and digital humanities (Faculty of Humanities, University of Gothenburg), structural geology (Faculty of Science, University of Gothenburg), and cultural heritage methods from the Vitlycke Museum in Tanum.
Overall, GRIDH has been involved in over a hundred interdisciplinary project applications and continually develops new collaborations. Please feel free to contact us - with advance notice - if you need assistance within the scope of your ongoing research or have an idea for a project application. GRIDH can contribute to both the design of the application and the formulation of research questions, as well as the research within the project itself through expertise and infrastructure.
GRIDH contributes interdisciplinary-oriented expertise to the three national research infrastructures Huminfra, Infravis, and the National Language Bank/Swe-Clarin."
